Here at The Breakers Condominiums we believe that freedom comes at a price and choose to faithfully support the men and women that are giving their lives so we can live in a blessed America. We are delighted to be involved in a number of events, committees, and other community activites that honor our dedicated armed forces. We will keep you up to date on what is going on around the Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Navarre, Niceville, and surrounding Emerald Coast area throughout the year.

Fort Walton Beach Military Affairs Committee
The Breakers Condominiums host the FWB Chamber Military Affairs Committee monthly meeting which is held on the 3rd Mon. of each month at 11:30 am. This committee is comprised of local Chamber members and representatives from the military installations in the area who provide briefings at the meetings as to what is happening at each of our military installations (Eglin AFB, Hurlburt Field, Duke Field, 6th Army Rangers, Coast Guard and 7th Special Forces).
The MAC will be participating in future events coming to our area to honor our warriors.
Freedom Lounge under construction at N.W. Florida Regional Airport (VPS)
Beginning in Dec., 2009 a USO lounge named "Freedom Lounge" will be under construction at a location at the N.W. Florida Regional Airport (VPS). The airport donated 1,000 sq. ft of space adjacent to the Military Reception area that will be designated as the USO Freedom Lounge. This area is located on the first floor across from Delta Airlines ticket counter. The decision to keep the lounge on the first floor was to allow deploying warriors to spend as much time with their families as possible before having to go through the security areas. According to the Exec. Director of the airport Greg Donovan, this area will be better than any "Crown Executive Room" at "any" airport. The entire community will be pleased with the outcome.
Air Force Thunderbirds
On April 10th and 11th, 2009 the Air Force Thunderbirds will be arriving at Eglin AFB for an air show. This is in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Eglin.
Vietnam War Wall Memorial coming to town
In June, 2010 the mobile/traveling Vietnam War Wall Memorial will be coming to town and will be open 24 hours a day for a 3 days visit. Locals and visiting guests are welcome to visit the wall which will be located at the Fairgrounds in Ft. Walton Beach. The Heritage Museum has sponsored this event in honor of Eglin Air Force Base's 75th Anniversary. Look for more information on it's arrival date in future updates.
Armed Forces Appreciation Day - August 2010
In August, 2010 the area will be celebrating Armed Forces Appreciation Day. A major headliner will be named shortly as the lead entertainment. This celebration has not been held since 2003 and the area is very excited about the upcoming event. This too is being done to help celebrate Eglin's 75th Anniversary.
