In summer the rules are different. Bedtimes are suggestions, mornings are meant for sleeping in late, and a day spent doing absolutely nothing is encouraged rather than judged. Summer is the most popular season, and when it’s time to plan your summer journey, it only makes sense to choose a place where summer almost lasts all year! Fort Walton Beach has conquered summer, and our Breakers FWB condos have been made its new ruler—one you won’t want to say no to! Here’s a guide for your summer journey in our favorite place on earth!
Day 1: Your Journey Begins- Summer in Florida
The sun may have already sunk into the horizon, and the Gulf breezes have made sitting on your balcony a reasonable expectation. Tired travelers will be happy to make this the most strenuous activity of the night. Tonight is for unpacking, opening cupboards, and enjoying that wine you purchased on the way into town. Stick with a cool chardonnay for tonight; the reds go down smoother in the fall!
Day 2: Waterparks Aren’t Just for Kids
What better way to greet the season of the sun and the second day of your Summer in Florida journey than with slippery slides, purple popsicles, and lazy rivers. Today, we’re heading to the Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park at 1007 US-98 for a day of fun in the sun! Featuring a five-story-tall water slide (Jumanji) for the daredevil in your life, kiddy slides for your littles, and a miniature golf course for anyone who prefers grass over water, this summer adventure offers something for everyone in your crew! Click here a check out some super fun things to do in the water!
Day 3: Feeling Animated?
The end of summer in Fort Walton Beach signifies the beginning of something extraordinary. The Florida Anime Festival 2019 makes its appearance August 2nd through August 4th. Not everyone understands its merits, but if Pikachu is your spirit animal and Sailor Moon was your first crush, this festival that celebrates everything anime will make you feel right at home! Housed in the Emerald Coast Convention Center at 1250 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, ticket prices start at $20 for now, but will probably increase in cost the closer we get to the show, so order yours today and save yourself some money!
Day 4: Stay Cool
If you have ever wondered what the phrase “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity” means, there’s no time like the present to receive your answer! There will be times during your summer journey where even your eyeballs will sweat, and when that happens, the quickest way to cool down is with the air conditioning in the Destin History & Fishing Museum! Located at 108 Stahlman Avenue, the charming red brick structure houses artifacts and exhibits from the early days of this Gulf city and keeps you cool as it educates you on why Destin is known as the world’s luckiest fishing village!
Day 5: Resort Adventures
The best part of staying in one of our Breakers FWB vacation escapes during the Summer in Florida is being able to use all the resort amenities, so why not take this day and stay home? Turn the AC down low during the hottest part of the day and watch the world from the comfort of your classic condo or throw on a swimsuit and head to the pool for an afternoon of suntan lotion, beach tunes, and new friendships made in the shade of a really good beach umbrella!
Day 6: Discover the Truth About Oysters
Rumor has it that oysters are considered an aphrodisiac, and although we could quote the research behind that simple rumor, it’s much more fun finding out for yourself with a visit to Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House at 414 Harbor Boulevard! Featuring ocean views for sighs, two full bars for refreshment, and an extensive seafood menu that will make your stomach smile, Boshamps is our favorite way to say goodbye!
Day 7: The Day Has Come
As much as we hate to say goodbye, the end of your journey has arrived. As you wander from room to room, enjoying the style and warmth that is an integral part of all our condos and wondering if it’s too soon to start planning next year’s return for another Summer in Florida, we only have one thing to say: It’s never too soon, so reserve yours today!
